چکیده

Focusing an ultrasonic surface or bulk wave to a point can maximise the amount of ultrasonic energy at a point and increase the sensitivity of a measurement. Using noncontact ultrasonic methods we focus an ultrasonic wave pulse on or in a sample. Focusing can be achieved by using a shaped source or by the surface profile of the sample itself. Experiments and modelling confirm the known result that once the wave pulse passes through the focal point, it will undergo a phase shift. Using non-contact ultrasonic methods on a sample with spherical or cylindrical geometry, one can exploit the surface profile of the sample to focus an ultrasonic wave, as there is no refraction to consider at the sample surface under the transducer.

Guided Wave Non-contact Ultrasonic for Nde

Non-contact ultrasonic, enables rapid testing of structures using ultrasonic tests that are not possible via conventional contact transducers. This paper reports on laser ultrasonic and air/gas coupled ultrasonic measurements that are performed remotely, do not require direct access to test area, do not need traditional ultrasonic coupling and do not have traditional C-scan fixture requirements...

Kinetic study of unsaturated ketones epoxidation with hydrogen peroxide through the inverse phase transfer catalysis and effect of ultrasonic waves in this epoxidation

Kinetic study of epoxidation of unsaturated ketone of mesityl oxide was studied by usingHydrogen peroxide in the presence of dodecyltrimethyl ammonium bromide (DTAB) as aninverse phase transfer catalyst. The reaction was carried out in the two-phase media of waterheptanewith 1:1 ratio in 25 °C. It was found that the order of reaction for mesityl oxide forketone concentration in the range of 0.0...

Application of Acoustic Wavefield Imaging to Non-contact Ultrasonic Inspection of Bonded Components

Through transmission ultrasonic (TTU) methods are widely used for inspection of critical aerospace structural components because of their simplicity and the high sensitivity of TTU methods to bonding and delamination type defects. TTU inspection requires access to both sides of a component, which is generally not a problem before components are installed in final assemblies. However, limited ac...

Nondestructive Evaluation of Coatings

Bulk and Rayleigh (or surface wave) velocities of ultrasonic waves in chromium coatings on steel were measured and an experimental correlation was found between the surface velocity and the hardness. Since qualitative coating evaluation is commonly made using hardnesses as a guideline, the possibility is herewith presented of using the so und velocities of surface ultrasonic waves for this purp...

Phased array ultrasonic imaging using an improved beamforming based total focusing method for non destructive test

One of the novel ultrasonic phased array based scanning methods for ultrasonic imaging in non-destructive test is total focusing method (TFM). This method employs maximum available information of the phased array elements and leads to an improved defect detection accuracy compared to conventional scanning methods. Despite its high detection accuracy, TFM behaves weak in distinguishing the real ...
